Tom’s Story is continued from Chapter One, here’s the link just in case you missed the beginning.

“I shan’t call you ‘little one’ again,” she whispered in my ear as she rubbed the warm cloth across my chest, her laughter, light and sweet.

I hadn’t realized how cold I was until she had me stripped and sittin’ in the huge, steaming copper tub, chilled to the bone until the heat from the water seeped in. Everything seemed different. Though night, I had no trouble seein’ the buck on the knoll some yards away. Without strain, I could see his sides risin’ and fallin’ with his breathin’. A little more effort and I could see his veins pulsin’ with blood. See’n things, I was. I placed a hand to my head and found it cool– not feverish. I bucked in the tub when her hand found my privates, sloshing water over the sides and onto her dress, a sharp sound risin’ from my throat. My gaze riveted on her. How had I thought her like Colleen?

“Are you mute?” she inquired with a tilt of her head. Her mischievous smile vanished with my look. She shrugged and would have pulled away, but I clasped her arm above the elbow. She turned to glare. “So, the memory returns. Do you have a name?”

Her fingers curled around my cock and squeezed none too gentle. I could have pushed her away, part of me wantin’ to do just that. But, that weren’t the part doin’ the thinkin’ just then. I held onto her arm, her hand moving freely on me, and studied her face. My head pounded to her rhythm as memory began to come back to me. I should’a wanted her dead for what she done to me. Which was what, exactly? When her other hand joined the first and cupped my balls, I stopped thinkin’, wrapped a hand behind her head and pulled her mouth to mine. With one swift tug and a decent sized splash, she joined me in the tub. Ripping her mouth from mine, she shrieked.

Like two cottonmouths matin’ we twisted round each other, her clothes just suddenly gone, dark hair swirling in the water like something alive. I wanted her like I had never wanted any other, the need to be in her driving me mad. No thought of gentleness, only want. I ate at her mouth and her throat, pushed her leg over the side of the tub and thrust into her. I pounded her body with mine, the water dancin’ in waves around us and couldn’t find what I searched for. The pressure built, ‘til I threw back my head and screamed my torment, a ragged sound coming from the depths of me. My body jolted clear down to my pecker as her teeth pierced my throat. She ground herself against me, buckin’and thrashin’ until her mouth came free and I could feel her insides clutching. I latched onto her breast, biting down hard. With the first taste of cool sweetness, I came, pumping into her as though I would push clean through her. The world narrowed to my throbbing cock and the blood on my tongue.

“Who are you? I don’t even know yer name.” My mind whirled as I tried to make sense of it all. “What have you done to me?” Her naked backside was to me as she stooped to pick up the remains of her dress. She straightened with a slow shake of her head and a murmer I didn’t quite catch with the blood lust still poundin’ in my ears. “What? I asked yer name.”

She turned with blood rimmed eyes. “Mariska.”

“Mariska?” I rolled the r on my tongue as she had and it felt strange, like her voice sounded. “What have you done t’me?”

The blood trickled from under half closed lids to creep down her pale cheeks. She spoke softly, weary like, but in a tongue I’d never heard. Her words seemed to startle her and she paused for an instant, took in a gulp of air which shook her from head to toe. She raised her head and stared at me, before moving to stand in front of me. “I am Mariska. I am your maker…and you…we, are vampire. I have broken my vow,” she said in a whisper before taking my hand and placing it between her heavy breasts.

I was so bewitched by her voice, her words; I didn’t catch on fer a spell. My mind seemed muddled still, although clearer than before. I looked at my hand and she moved hers away. Nothing. Though my hand lay over her heart, I felt nothing! I raised my eyes a touch, to meet hers. She drew my hand away gently, placing it on my own chest. I felt the dizziness take hold as I stood, gaspin’ for air, which made it so much worse. “Dear God in heaven!”

Shrieks wailed in the night as I stepped from the tub only to fall to the ground. Along the shadowed edges of the buildings and the woods at last I saw them, pale things with their arms raised as if to block a blow. I cast my gaze to Mariska. “Sweet Jesus, what have you done?”

I woke to the smell of fresh turned earth and darkness. Seemed fittin’, the dead should be buried. Even in the pitch I saw there were boards above me. Under a buildin’ then. She was with me, and I took comfort in that, although I couldn’t figure why. She had kilt me, sure as shootin and I should return the favor. Easy enough done, I could break her in half as neat as snappin’ a twig. But the urge weren’t there, besides, wasn’t we dead already? I saw her clear, curled at my side, red smudging her eyes and cheeks. I wet my thumbs on my tongue and wiped the stains away, then popped both in my mouth to clean them. Her lids opened, her lips twisting in a half-hearted smile. I looked deep into the darkness of her eyes and saw loneliness and somethin’ else…a glimmer of hope.

“I’m Tom.”

My body grew heavy, my mind, foggy, and somehow I knew, just knew– dawn was about to break. Just as I knew later on when I woke that evenin’, the sun had set and it was safe for us to come out of our warren. Without a word between us, she pushed the boards away, then leapt to the floor above in one easy jump, landing square, not makin’ a sound. Not to be outdone by a slip of a girl, I did the same, overshot my mark and landed hard in the loft, sending hay flyin’ and chickens scattering in all directions. Embarrassed as all git out, I should’a flushed when I heard her peal of laughter, but didn’t seem able. Determined, I looked over the edge of the loft to mark her spot and dropped silently to her side, happy when she smiled.

“All the skills are there, you but need practice to hone them. Come, we must feed.”

She led down the barn aisle to stalls at the rear and opened the door, motionin’ me to come ahead. I did as she bade and stopped behind to peer over her head. Five Johnny-Rebs lay stretched out on the hay. “They dead?”

“Can you not tell?” she asked with no small amount of exasperation. “What do you smell, see, hear?”

I gaped at her a minute then turned my attention back to the men. What did I smell? They stank to high heaven! But, beyond the rank, I smelled warm blood, could almost taste it on the tip of my tongue. I put my hand to my mouth as somethin’ pricked my lip to find—fangs. I glanced at Mariska, who gave a little nod before waving her hand toward the Rebs, my lesson not yet finished. What did I hear, their breathin’, rapid and shallow. They was playin’ possum. Deeper than the breathin’, came a rushin’ noise, and a heavy thump-thump, thump- thump as I fixed on their heartbeats and the blood rushing through their bodies. My jeans grew tight as I watched. Food. Blood.

I don’t recall movin’, but must’a, ‘cause the next instant I had snatched one of the Rebs from his pallet and bent his neck to the side. He was shriekin’ and wailin’ somethin’ fierce and my pants were fair to bustin’. I drew back to strike only to feel a hand on my shoulder. I held, though it was more than a mite hard to do, turned and glared back at her. Her gaze went past me to the man in my arms and he stilled and quieted, hanging limply in my grasp. She turned her eyes to the others who sat quakin’ and huddled like they had seen the devil himself. Mayhap, they had.

“They need not be frightened so, it is unkind. Their fear feeds our lusts.” Her eyes dropped to my crotch. “Though the distraction can be pleasant, we need all our control not to kill once the blood lust is upon us. Without control we are but animals, are we not? ” She inclined her head in their direction. “Choose one. See into their minds and think, ‘all will be well, you will feel nothing.’”

I thrust the man I held at her and she cradled him in her arms as if he weren’t no more than a little child. I fixed my gaze on a sandy haired feller, it took a minute to catch him, his eyes dartin’ to and fro like a hummin’bird from flower to flower, but once his eyes met mine, I had him. He stilled and I drew back to strike, only to again feel her touch. “What now, woman?”

Her head shook, tossing raven locks about her shoulders, eyes dancin’ with glee. Her eyes dropped to my crotch which wasn’t near as swold as before.

“The lust ebbs. Do not kill.”

I rolled my eyes, drew in a ragged breath which made me plumb dizzy, and managed a nod. “Can I get on with it now?”

The Reb didn’t put up a fight, and while there was a bit ‘o stirrin’ in my loins, it weren’t nothin’ I couldn’t manage. I drank my fill, which weren’t near as much as the first time. Pleased at not drainin’ him dry, I lay him gently back on his cot.

Mariska had begun her many, many lessons to teach me what it meant to be vampire, while I tried my best to recall what it had been to be just plain human.

Don’t miss the next installment! Tom’s STory continues with Chapter three Wednesday November 17th.
